The launch of our shiny new website!<\/p><\/div>

We’ve been burning the candle at both ends here at Forus Tree HQ, and are happy to announce the launch of the new website! We acknowledge that there may be some teething problems and welcome any feedback you might have or what you encounter as you browse. Bid for land!<\/p><\/div>

We are looking to acquire a piece of land in the Mytholmroyd\/Hebden Bridge area. This land will be used to secure the future of Forus Tree nursery and further develop what we can offer as an organisation. We have been unsuccessful on a couple of plots recently, and we’ve all agreed that when it’s right it will come. To create a sustainable future by actively getting members in the community involved and skilled up to work in an ever-changing environment. We want to encourage and nurture healthy woodland management by supporting and training people with the vital skills they need to succeed.<\/p>\n

All the founding members worked for Treesponsibility; who have been planting trees and doing natural flood management in Calderdale for over 23 years. We also have close working relationships with local ecologists, arboriculturists and local authorities, supporting us with a vast network of knowledge and expertise.<\/div><\/div>[\/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Our Aims” tab_id=”1629295073098-2-8″]

Plant at least 100,000 trees per year<\/strong>
\nPlant at least 100,000 trees per year with the community and for the community. We aim to do this in coordination with local land owners, the council and other initiatives.<\/p>\n

Mitigate Climate Change<\/strong>
\nTrees absorb co2 and other pollutants through their leaves. Their roots filter and clean water. Making them a perfect way to fight climate change and stop water contamination.<\/p>\n

Reduce Floods<\/strong>
\nRoots act like a natural sponge absorbing water and strengthening the ground. Planting willows and other trees can slow down water, stop land erosion and function as a natural dam when planted across streams.<\/p>\n

Education <\/strong><\/p>\n

Thanks to this funding we’re increasing our water storage capacity, reducing our water consumption and weeding time by feeding water directly to the trees where it’s needed. After many late nights hand watering and worrying about water, this will be a huge improvement!<\/p>\n
